Baroque is the term applied derogatorily but later on descriptively by art historians to show the sculpture, painting of Italy which are grand and magnificent, and later this movement is spread to Germany.
In literature, we define those passages which are written in magnificient and eloquent way like some passages of Milton's Paradise lost (1667) and Thomas De Quincey's Confessions of an English Opium Eater (1822).
John Donne, the most important metaphysical poet who used metaphysical conceits in his poetry. His works can also be called as baroque. Richard Crawshaw, one of the metaphysical poets wrote fantastic conceits, religious beliefs and thoughts. His Works are said to be baroque.
